Originally the church was dedicated to St. Servatius. The massive-looking late Romanesque west tower was preserved as a remnant of a small Westphalian basilica that burned down in 1766. The simple one-nave rectangular building was built in 1768 (name). Since 1950 there has been a memorial for the victims of the two world wars in the tower, the glass window shows the Archangel Michael fighting against the forces of darkness. The tower room in the accessible bell tower has housed historical furnishings since 2005. The church is a rectangular three-axis building in the Bergisch Baroque style. Above the side portal it is marked with 1768; the barrel vault is made of wood. During the renovation work in 2004, the glass windows on the east side, which had been covered for 50 years, were uncovered, and fragments of historical paintings were uncovered on the west wall.

The village Rönsahl is a rural district of Kierspe in Märkischer Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia. Until 1968 Rönsahl formed a community in the former district of Altena.

The 1395 first mentioned in records Rönsahl originally belonged to the office Altena the County Mark and since 1817 to the district Altena in the Prussian province of Westphalia. From 1565 to 1753 there was a court in Rönsahl. Later, Rönsahl became a major site of powder manufacturing.

On January 1, 1969, the community was incorporated by the law for the reorganization of the district of Altena and the independent city of Lüdenscheid in the city of Kierspe. By the Cologne law came on 1 January 1975, the hitherto Oberbergische place Meienborn to Rönsahl. In return, some Rönsahler parts of the territory moved to the Oberbergische community Marienheide.
