          The Kirchenlamitz–Weißenstadt railway was a branch line in Bavaria. It was opened on July 20, 1899 as a local railway line by the Bavarian State Railway and was one of the seven branch lines that used to open up the Fichtelgebirge.
          The railway line gave the granite industry an enormous boost, because it significantly reduced the transport problems of the heavy granite stones that had been enormous up until then.
          A funicular was even built around 1907 to get the heavy blocks from the quarries at the top of the Epprechtstein to the loading ramp. The foundations of the valley station are still well preserved.
