Fanø's sandpit grows - car-free beachFanø's northernmost sandbar, called Søren Jessens Sand, has grown incredibly over the past 40 years. It is no longer a peninsula, as shown on many maps, but a bulge of the island north of Fanø Bad. Everyone is welcome to play in Fanø's new sandpit - except cars. If you see a huge ship floating over the sand like a flying Dutchman, then it is certainly the England ferry Sirena Seaways that is causing this optical illusion. The entire route to the Grådyb fairway and back is 6 km long, and with a little luck you can see the rare little terns that are looking for food on the banks.More information about Fanø:
