The nature reserve is a peninsula on the northern bank of the mouth of the Schleimündung. It is a naturally created very diverse beach landscape. The eastern coastline is a typical flat coast with beach, dunes, beach walls and dry grasslands. On the west side are neehungshaken formed with pronounced wind wadding. They are unique on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic coast and of great importance for the bird world. Oehe-Schleimünde is an important breeding, resting and wintering area for Nordic migratory birds.
