Hiking Highlight
You would actually pass by here without knowing that you are walking along a 1,500-year-old defensive wall. The Osterwall is the eastern part of the Danewerkes. In the Viking Age, Danes, Friesians, Saxons and Slavs met here in the border region between Scandinavia and Central Europe. The Danes began to expand the Danewerk as a southern border fortification. The Osterwall runs over a length of 3.5 kilometers via Kochendorf to the Windebyer Noor.
The Windebyer Noor has a lot to offer: The former Eckernförder Kleinbahn, an old watermill, secluded paths, great trees, a glacial boulder and much more!
