There are cycle paths directly along the dunes and for walks also very relaxing.

The dunes of St. Peter-Ording are extremely popular as a hiking area with both tourists and locals. Open areas characterized by sand, heather and grass alternate with wooded areas. The dune belt is around 5.5 kilometers long and runs through the resort almost without interruption. A great natural treasure, because the dunes of St. Peter-Ording are unique on the entire German west coast. As a result, they were placed under protection by the EU in 2007 as a fauna flora habitat (FFH). The area covers 153 hectares. So that the animal and plant species are preserved there and can develop accordingly, a management plan must now be drawn up. The State Office for Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Rural Areas (LLUR) is working on this. It coordinates with the municipality and the Dider and Main Siel Association Eiderstedt (DHSV), who own most of the dune belt. - Source: © 2020
