Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
The former single-track railway Celle-Braunschweig had a length of about 60 km. It went into several sections between 1920 and 1923 in operation.
In 1962 the passenger service Braunschweig-Plockhorst was discontinued, 1971 followed the cessation of passenger traffic Celle-Plockhorst for lack of demand.
Today the route is shut down and largely dismantled.
This section Westercelle-Nienhagen is the route of a natural gas pipeline and released for cyclists and pedestrians. Especially nice are the two bridges over the Fuhsekanal.
On the old railway embankment of the Plockhorstbahn (from Celle to Brunswick) after the railway tracks were rebuilt on the section between Nienhagen and Celle a bike path set up ........ continue towards Braunschweig in Wathlingen is located on the railway also a bike path! !
