"Putto auf dem Fisch" by Hermann Scheuernstuhl (1894-1982), a Hanoverian artist. The fish rider was completed in 1936 and shows a naked boy riding a fish. The fish is a Christian symbol, but could also be related to the lake. Personally, I do not recognize any deeper symbolism of stature.

Nice Fotomotuv which unfortunately is not to photograph from the front.

Why can not it be photographed from the front? There are plenty of paddle boats around. 😜This photo motive must not be missing on any photo deer on the Maschsee. Exactly the nudes and the lions. (Sounds like a cheap B-movie 🤣)

The sculpture "Der" Fischreiter "or" Putte auf dem Fisch "is on the north bank of the Maschsee. The work was created in 1936 by the artist Hermann Scheuernstuhl. The artist was a member of the NSDAP.
Many of his works, which were committed to the Nazi ideology, are still in exposed locations in the city of Hanover, especially on Lake Maschsee.
