The Hainberg is a ridge and is located northwest of the Harz mountain range, a few kilometers southwest of Salzgitter and separates the Ambergau to the east. It stretches from Holle in the north-northwest and Baddeckenstedt in the north and east to Lutter am Barenberge in the south. West of the Hainberg is Bockenem in the center of the Amberg.
Among the attractions of the Hainberg include the Bodensteiner cliffs, which lie at about 200 to 283 m altitude and consist of Hilssandstein the Lower Cretaceous.
North of the cliffs lies the Hubertus Chapel (Hubertusgrotte), a rock chapel carved in 1733 in sandstone. In its northern neighborhood stands the 1838 built hunting lodge, which was used as a forest restaurant.
From Jägerturm on the Northern Jägerturmskopf (244 m) offers the view to the south to southeast Harz.
The town hall was first mentioned in documents in 1310. It was rebuilt in Renaissance style at the beginning of the 17th century. From this phase comes the representative entrance portal with the coat of arms above. Between 1899 and 1901 the cultivation of two side wings took place. Worth seeing are in the style of the Wilhelminian style with murals to the city history equipped city council meeting room (ballroom) and the large funded by the Wüstenrot Foundation city model on the ground floor. The stone Roland destroyed in 1477 was rebuilt in 1869 and stands on the market facade next to the outside staircase. The city hall is still today seat of the Quedlinburger city administration.
