Great all-round view over the Southern Harz from Braunlage - Clausthal Zellerfeld to the Harz foothills of Osterode and Nordhausen.

Here there is a cozy retreat with hearty meals. In summer, there is usually a sausage and beverage stand in front of the door.

One of the most beautiful and rustic mountain restaurants I know. Cozy by the roaring fireplace or stove (it's both there). Good food (really homemade) at fair prices. Nice service. Extremely rewarding. The path over the raised bog requires surefootedness and is more difficult in snow and wet conditions.

Reachable by bike and on foot via several trails with varying demands.

The about five meters high rock formation is located on the ridge of the "Ackers" directly on the trail just a few meters east of the Hanskühnenburg-Baude. The rock is easy to see from this Baude and practically impossible to miss.

Highly recommended as a break station! Tasty cake, soup ... sometimes there are also freshly smoked trout with homemade potato salad! (Mostly on weekends / summer)

The Hanskühnenburg is for me one of the most beautiful excursion in the Harz, here you get, among other things, very delicious home cooking and is always very friendly. In the outdoor area, there are many seats, in not so good weather you can also sit great in the interior and warm up the crackling fire. When the weather is good, the observation tower offers a fantastic view in all directions. The easiest way from here is from Stieglitzecke, but you can also get from Osterode on the Harz, Riefensbeek - Kamschlacken, Lonau and Sieber well Hanskühnenburg. Also on the long distance Harzer BaudenSteig you get here.
The stamp box 144 of the Harzer hiking pin hangs in the entrance area.

The whole Harz is a paradise which is not overcrowded even if one disregards the tourist places. For hikers and mountain bikers a lot.

The Hanskühnenburg rock is one of the numerous, for the ridge "On the field" characteristic rock cliffs. Compared to most other cliffs, the Hanskühnenburgfelsen, however, has a small size.
The about five meters high rock formation is located on the crest of the "Ackers" directly on the trail just a few meters east of the Hanskühnenburg-Baude. The rock is easy to see from this Baude and practically impossible to miss.
The Hanskühnenburgfelsen consists of Acker-Bruchberg-Quarzit, a very hard and for the eye almost structureless rock. This particular material aroused the interest of the geologically interested Johann Wolfgang von Goethe already in the 18th century. This visited the Hanskühnenburgfelsen in August 1784 as part of his third Harz trip. To commemorate this event, in 1999 a bronze plaque with a corresponding inscription was placed on the rock.

After a strenuous hike we got a cheap meal and a stamp for the Harzer hiking aristocracy and the badge "Harzer Baudenstieg"
The staff were friendly, the food filling and inexpensive and there is always a hearty vegetarian dish.
The tower is also open to the public and offers great views.
I absolutely recommend a side trip.
