The Dreiherrenstein on the Großer Weißenberg is a historic boundary stone at 740 m altitude on the Großer Weißenberg in the Thuringian Forest. It is located about 5 km west of the Großer Inselsberg on the Rennsteig. [1] This Dreiherrenstein marked the borders of the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen, the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha as well as Kurhessen for centuries. Even today the Dreiherrenstein forms a border point: Here the counties of Gotha (with the district of Winterstein), the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen (with the district of Brotterode) and the Wartburgkreis (with the district of Steinbach) meet.
The Breiter Rennsteig begins at the Dreiherrenstein and leads south to Breitungen. In addition to the Waldschänke restaurant, there has also been a monument to Victor von Scheffel since 1913. With his work: At the beginning (1863) he made the Rennsteig famous.

The large Dreiherrenstein is a crossroads of old trade routes, a good starting point for various bike tours. Of course, you can also take a short break here
