For more than four decades she has been an advertising medium with supraregional appeal in terms of tourism for the municipality of Simmerath. From 1969 to 2012 the stagecoach, the so-called "Diligence", operated from June to the beginning of September through the picturesque valley between Erkensruhr and Einruhr or from Einruhr to Jägersweiler in the direction of Obersee.
In 2012, the bad news came: Rides high on the yellow car were no longer possible. Because of technical defects of the historical vehicle the enterprise had to be stopped then.
After the coach had since more or less disappeared from the scene, she has now found thanks to the civic association Erkensruhr-Hirschrott a new weather-sheltered residence. Right next to the Backhaus (Backes) in Erkensruhe, the members of the Civic Association have built a "Carport" with a lot of volunteer commitment, in which the stagecoach has received a worthy place. On an area of 4.50 by seven meters, another touristic eye-catcher has been created there in Erkensruhr.
The "Diligence" (curb weight 1280 kilograms) could accommodate nine people. From 1969 to 1981, the coach was even the first public transport between Erkensruhr and Einruhr and was also listed in the timetable of the Deutsche Bundespost. On the coach, celebrities such as Willy Millowitsch, Heino or opera singer Günter Wewel could also drive through the "Kleinwalsertal der Eifel". On the history of the stagecoach you get an overview on site by an information board, which was attached to the Backhaus Erkensruhr.
