Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
A unique heathland announces the High Venn, which happens on this section. The fascinating high moor area is a gigantic reservoir of water, so that there are numerous streams and rivers to be bridged on this section. Passing the former station building of Sourbrodt, the Vennbahn line cuts its way between the two lakes of Robertville and Bütgenbach and finally ends in Waimes (Weismes).
This route is not really through typical Venn. The only route I know to be a continuously paved stretch starts at the parking lot Nahtsief on the Mützenich-Eupen road. Straight past the Kutenhart-Venn past the Getzbachtal, at the Vorsperre of the Weser dam on the right (after Bellesfort) and then always keeping to the right the Steinbachtal high and back through the Brackvenn. (about 26 km, 350 meters high)
