The stain wall is the late medieval Ortsbefestigung of Dalsheim, today a district of Flörsheim-Dalsheim. It is the only almost completely preserved medieval town fortification in Rheinhessen.
The fortification around the town was built at the end of the 15th century as a single building. In 1840, the two inlet gates were demolished, the moat was filled in and the used terrain was used for gardens.
The stain wall was restored from 1986 to 1990. As a "urban" defense of a village without city rights, it is a rare historical testimony.
