Eichstätt the old university town is definitely worth to visit and pause. Eichstätt is the capital of Altmühltal. The northern valley slope above the city forms an extension of the Franconian Jura. The highest point in the city is the so-called Matterhorn, a former waste dump near the district of Lüften, 574 meters high. At the lowest point at 384 meters, the Altmühl leaves the urban area. The city center is at an altitude of 393 meters. The city is the eponymous place of Eichstätt Alb.
