The Lone rises to about 562 m above sea level. NN a spring pot in Urspring, a suburb of the municipality Lonsee. The spring pot is 6 m deep and has a diameter of 10 m. This karst source emits an average of 220 liters per second (at least 4 l / s max 1840 l / s). Their catchment area extends into the eight kilometers west of the area of Nellingen. The bluish shimmering lemon water, which presses to the surface, appears to be clean, but like most karst springs in the Swabian Alb, it is heavily contaminated with nitrate, germs and other inputs from agriculture. Some trout used by fishermen frolic in it. The Haldenstein Cave, about 100 meters away, has signs of a forerunner of the Lone Spring.
The source pot of the Lone is protected under the protected area number 842-50750044 as areal natural monument.
