The Wittichen Monastery is a former Clarisse monastery in Wittichen in a narrow side valley of the Kleine Kinzig near Schenkenzell in the upper Kinzig valley.
The monastery church is a baroque gem and is still the destination of many pilgrims today. In the old monastery stable there is a small museum that exhibits the treasures such as the monstrance, vestments and similar things of the monastery as well as minerals from Wittichen.
The longhouse is used by the locality of Kaltbrunn as a community center, but is impressive from the outside by its thickness. The building seals off the small valley, so to speak.
The Talbach and the thoroughfare leading into the former mining settlement of Wittichen run side by side through two sandstone-rimmed gates in the building. Despite the incompleteness, the whole complex looks extremely idyllic.
