Hiking Highlight
From the Friesenberghaus, which is located at an altitude of 2,498 meters, you have an impressive view of the mountain panorama and the Friesenbergsee in the valley. The refuge with the solid stone masonry is family-friendly and bears the seal "Families welcome!"
Open from mid-June to late September.
The Friesenberghaus is located in the middle of a car with a magnificent view of the Zillertal Alps. Also in the autumn time very worthwhile.
On the cliff above the northeastern shore of the lake (looking towards the Riffler), the DAV section Berlin has set up a sport climbing garden (routes between UIAA 3 to 8, in the meantime possibly higher) with up to 2 SL tours. Topos are available at the host.
Walking from the Schlegeis dam, you reach the Friesenberghaus in about 2.5 hours. A great hike, which is also feasible for children. Meadows and smaller waterfalls line the path. Once at the top, you can be pampered with culinary delights and cool his feet in the Friesenbergsee a little. If you want, you can stay up here for one night.
It is a lot quieter here than at the Olpererhütte. So for us a hut to take a well-deserved rest.
The hut is beautiful, the descent from there is almost entirely over stones, which takes about 2 hours. Very difficult and you always have to be careful with every step. Therefore you need to be in good physical condition, because without physical condition you cannot concentrate ...
