Beautiful rise, even in the fall. Unfortunately cobblestone is partly there, which makes the climb a bit more difficult.

On Mondays, the Gotthard of Altdorf is rising with less traffic than on other days of the week. Except holidays, holidays. The tremolo from the south is car-free, the rise longer + harder (paving stones).

The St. Gotthard has been one of Europe's most important north-south connections for ages. Which is still very noticeable today. Especially on nice weekends, the traffic on this main road can ever close and reduce the joy of cycling significantly. The driveway should therefore be well planned. Partly on the finest asphalt, but also on paving stones up to the 2,091 m. With a little luck, you will even encounter the old stagecoach, which still drives over the pass. A piece of history in the fit.
