With 2251 m above sea level. M. belongs to the Sanetschpass in Valais to the 18 two-thousandths under the Swiss passports. The other crossings have two valley locations, but the Sanetsch has only one, namely Sion.
The Sanetsch Pass is unfinished because the Valaisers built the road over the pass to the canton border, but the canton of Bern did not renounce the connection from the north.
But from Gsteig to Sanetschsee an aerial cableway was built. She brings us together with the racing bike to the Sanetschsee. From there it is 5 kilometers to Sanetschpass, followed by an almost endless descent to Sion.

The Sanetschpass is a quiet and easy to drive pass, which is a little underestimated as a dead end. In a circular route, however, it is still integrable: at the reservoir there is the cable car station (about 200m Gravel, with road bike passable). These can be e.g. also use the bike to Gsteig in the Bernese Oberland. From Steig's go for example west to Vaud via Col du Pillon and Col de la Croix.

Absolute highlight, you drive through all levels, from the vineyards up to the high alpine terrain at 2300 m.ü.m.
You can close the round by going down to Gsteig by train.
