Originally Gallitzin-Sommerschloss (16, Savoyenstraße 2; Gallitzinberg; called Wilhelminenberg Castle since the 19th century). Field Marshal Franz Moritz Lacy, owner of Neuwaldegg Castle, began building a pleasure house at the Predigtstuhl in 1781. In 1784 he bought grounds for it. It is unclear when the Russian ambassador, Demetrius Fürst Gallitzin, took over the property. In April 1784 the name Gallitzinberg appears. Therefore, he probably owned the property as a tenant before. The castle was surrounded by a large park that contained three ponds and fountains and was open to the general public. Meadows and forests were also part of the property.

In 1780, the Russian ambassador in Vienna, Prince Demeter von Gallitzin, bought a large part of the hill previously known as the Predigtstuhl, which had previously belonged to Field Marshal Count Lacy. He had a summer palace built here by 1785, surrounded by a large park with a fountain and three ponds. Gallitzin's magnificent residence was greatly admired in Vienna. The ambassador was famous for his great festivals. Soon the Predigtstuhl was only referred to as Galiziberg.
