The Imperfect Fountain lies somewhat hidden within the grounds of Quinta da Regaleira and resembles the unfinished, rougher sibling of the grand Initiation Fountain. Its spiral structure, rock walls, and interplay of light and shadow nevertheless create a unique atmosphere. It's ideal for a short detour if you want to explore the more mysterious corners of the estate.

The Imperfect Well is one of the most curious and least-known corners of Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra. Although it often remains in the shadow of the famous Initiation Well, the Imperfect Well is part of the same symbolic, subterranean system that runs throughout the estate.
This well is mentioned as part of the underground routes: if you take certain tunnels from the Initiation Well, you can reach it, as it represents the "wrong path" within the initiatory journey designed by Monteiro and the architect Luigi Manini.
