The geographical center of the European Union is located since 01.07.2013 in the Lower Franconian Westerngrund-Oberwestern. Before that, he lay in the Hessian Meerholz, since the two municipalities are not far away from each other, 2014, an EU center hiking trail was established. The path connects the two points with each other, it is about 13 km long and equipped with boards along the wayside, which point out the peculiarities of each country.
