The Buhoma region lies on the northern side of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and is one of four tracking regions. Other trails have been developed in this sector, including the Munyaga River Trails in the Buhoma Valley, a short walk for bird and primate viewing along the forest edge; the Waterfall Trail, which passes among tree ferns, epiphytic ferns, and orchids to visit three dazzling waterfalls; the Rushura Hill Trail, the Muzabajiro Loop Trail, and the River Ivi Trail, the latter of which follows an old road through the forest and emerges near Nkuringo at the southern edge of the impenetrable forest. The Buhoma Community Walk and cultural performances, which last up to three hours and include visits to a typical homestead, the traditional healer, and a banana beer brewery, are organized by the local community. More recently, the Batwa cultural experience has been developed in this part of the park.
Walking through communities and villages in Uganda, you are always welcomed and greeted. Children love to shout hello and wave, most of them also wish their photo taken. Slopping through the villages, you can see the beautiful gardens full of vegetables and flowers and pop into the small shops in the trading centers. Most shops sell anything and everything whether it be food, motorbike accessories or household goods - all a t a very reasonable price
