The Town Hall of Palestro (1889), located in the province of Pavia, has a rich history.

Palestro is located in the Lomellina region, on the banks of the Sesia river.
First mentioned in 999 AD, it was given to the Bishop of Vercelli by Emperor Otto III.
It was a fortified settlement along the Via Francigena.
Palestro was ruled by the Visconti of Milan (1335-1452), later by the Borromeo family and from 1500 by Spain.
In 1614 it was acquired by the Duchy of Savoy.
Battle of Palestro (1859):
On 30-31 May 1859, the Battle of Palestro took place during the Second Italian War of Independence.
The Franco-Sardinian army defeated the Austrians.
