Intermediate pass on the way up to Champ du Feu. This is where the county roads meet. All options from/to Fouday (large connecting pass St.Die-Strasbourg), LeHohwald (beautiful old monastery Mont-Saint-Odile), Villé (from here then possibility to Selestat/Colmar) or Saales (also St.Die).
The Auberge has a frequently open, very good, small, not cheap restaurant.

Arriving earlier in the day is advisable. Information on direct public transport to the pass is not readily available, suggesting that personal vehicle or cycling are the primary modes of access.

Is Col de la Charbonnière suitable for families with children or dog-friendly?

The Col de la Charbonnière area, with its numerous trails through wooded areas, can be suitable for families looking for outdoor activities. What is the best time of year to visit Col de la Charbonnière for hiking, considering weather and crowds?

While the intro mentions spring and autumn for vibrant landscapes and pleasant weather, for a quieter experience and to avoid heavy car traffic, visiting during the low season is recommended.
