    The parish of Mill can look back on a glorious past. The Norbertine Abbey of Marienweerd in Beesd, founded in 1128 on the initiative of the Count's House of Cuijk, already owned goods in Mill in 1160. In later years the abbey acquired many lands, building courts and rights here. For example, the abbey received it from Jan Boc de Meere in 1323; patronage right of the already considerable "ecclesia baptismalis", which was dependent on the mother church in Boxmeer.
