Killala Round Tower stands almost twenty-six metres high. It has a door that is accessed by ladder three metres above the ground. The plinth is one metre high. It is said that the souterrain in the grounds of the church across the road leads into it.
It was built on the site of the original fifth-century monastic settlement sometime between 1170 and 1238.
