The Museum of Villanovan Civilization, also known as the Civic Archaeological Museum of Bologna, is an archaeological museum located in Bologna, Italy. It is dedicated to the Villanovan civilization, a prehistoric culture that flourished in central Italy between the 8th and 7th centuries BC. and which takes its name from the archaeological site of Villanova di Castenaso, near Bologna.

History and Description:
The Museum of Villanovan Civilization is one of the most important archaeological museums in Italy, and is dedicated to the study and exhibition of archaeological finds from Villanovan sites and other cultures of ancient Italy.

MUV - Museum and Documentation Center of the Villanovan civilisation, housed in the former barn of the rural complex of Casa Sant'Anna in Villanova di Castenaso, stands precisely in the place where, between 1853 and 1856, the Bolognese archaeologist Count Giovanni Gozzadini discovered and identified the traces of the most ancient phase of Etruscan civilization, which developed between the beginning of the 1st millennium BC. (Iron Age) and the last decades of the 8th century BC, until then unknown in Italy, to which Gozzadini himself decided to give the name "Villanoviana".
