Located on a raised foundation, the mosque stands at the intersection of Prohor Pcinski and Svekarska streets in the city's oldest quarter – Čair (alb. Çairi). It is located north-east of the medieval Kales/Kalaja (German for city castle) and west of the Ottoman old town in the immediate vicinity of the International Balkan University.

The central part of the mosque is the prayer room with its dome, the diameter of which is 16.3 meters. Inside it is decorated with many arabesques. The prayer room is adjoined by the marble-white portico, which is supported by four marble columns. It is covered by three smaller domes and its columns are connected by round arches. At the west corner of the main building rises the 47 meter high limestone minaret.

In the 2000s, the entire complex was renovated.
