Beautiful town To reach it you have to face a short but hard climb. Some sections in bad condition for landslides (May 2019).

Castell de l’Areny is located in Berguedà, at the foot of the Catllaràs. To get there you have to take the crossroad just before Vilada coming from Borredà. The ascent is easy but the last 1.5 km are demanding.

Castell de l'Areny is a municipality in the Berguedà region.
At its end there are the remains of the old town of Sant Romà de la Clusa.
The name comes from a Germanic anthroponym: expressions such as Castellum Athalasindi are documented, that is to say, castle (in Latin) of Athalasind. The personal name Athalasind evolved in Catalan to Alareny (the Germanic ending -sind dona, in Catalan, -reny or -rén). From Castell d'Alareny it would be interpreted as Castell de l'Areny.[1]
