Sand extraction for the construction of the A 28 motorway between Bad Zwischenahn and Oldenburg resulted in the Woldsee in the early 1970s. Today the lake is available as a bathing area with an appropriate slope design, suitable reed, bank and shrub planting. In the course of time, various log cabins have been erected on the approximately 14 hectare area. It houses the sanitary areas, a kiosk and DLRG supervision.

The Woldsee is in the summer months without a doubt the most popular swimming in the area. No wonder, because with a beach and kiosk, green lawns, hidden entrances and a (unofficial) nudist area is something for every type of bath.
The Woldsee can be reached by bike along the railway line from Oldenburg in about 15 minutes and thus a worthwhile destination on hot summer days.
