The Saint-Quentin de Mathaux church is a half-timbered church, like there are several others in the Aube department, in the Piney region.
It dates from 1761, and it is one of the oldest buildings in Champagne built entirely in half-timbered construction.
Its exterior is already magnificent in itself, but when we visited it was open, and we could see its structure from the inside, a nave without aisles. Explanatory panels made by volunteers tell the epic story of its restoration (and the fall of the bell tower in 1983...).
Two people from the village present during our visit told us that it was open almost every day.
