    The castle has an almost rectangular plan with a non-centralized courtyard and alternation along the walls of cylindrical and square towers, has a perimeter of 166 meters and occupies an area of 1 460 m².
    The portal of access, pointed arch, differs both from those of the Swabian period and from those of the Chiaramonte period. Inside the walls there is a large courtyard with a well, on this courtyard overlook the garrison's quarters, the chapel and the stables.
    A rampant staircase leads to the hall of the square tower, known as the Sala del Principe or dei Baroni, this room, covered by a pointed barrel vault, reinforced by a transverse median arch, is illuminated through two typically Gothic mullioned windows. Inside this room there are still fragments of a fresco by the painter Cecco da Naro, a painter to whom the Chiaramonte family also entrusted the painting of the Palermitan residence, Palazzo Steri. It is also possible to go above the square tower, which overlooks a large area that includes the city, the Paradise Valley and the Sicilian Channel to the south, the San Giovanni dam to the west, the hinterland to the north. Sicilian until you can see the cities of Caltanissetta and Enna on clear days and to the east also Mount Etna.
    On the round tower there is a statue of the Madonna to protect the city.
