This description (as of 05/2018) concerns the Mayan ruins of Uxmal, Kabah, Xlapak and Labna along the Ruta Puuc. Along this route you will find more Maja ruins, cenotes and sights in the surrounding towns and villages. During our visit, we focused only on these four places, because the facilities alone are already quite large and the heat is quite annoying. From Merida you have the free choice in which direction you want to start the round. We hit Uxmal early in the morning. From Merida you drive about 85 km (Mex 180/261) in a southerly direction. The route and the sights along the way are very well signposted. All ruins are generally open from 08: 00-17: 00. Uxmal: There are in addition to the standard opening hours in the evening hours (sunset). Uxmal is the largest and most expensive resort along the route. You pay for the three tickets (parking (30), tax (164), entrance (70)) 264 pesos. At the entrance you will find toilets, souvenir shops and various kiosks with food and drink. The entrance fee also includes a visit to the museum. Kabah: Admission is 55 pesos. The plant is divided into two parts. On the one hand there are restored ruins, on the other side of the street the facilities are still in their original condition. Here you can go for a nice walk, but there is not much to see from the grounds. At the entrance there are some refreshments and toilets. Xlapak: The complex consists of only three groups of ruins. But here is the entry free. In the entrance you have to register only in a visitor's book. There is a fridge with cool drinks and toilets. Labna: The entrance fee is 55 pesos. In the entrance area there are also cool drinks and toilets.
Is not overcrowded like Chichen Itza and less marketed. Ruins are cordoned off so nobody can scramble on them and you can take great photos without a lot of people on them.
