The oldest oratory north of Milan of Lombard, or rather, Burgundian origin.
The plan of the church is rectangular with a semicircular apse, a closed door to the north and a closed door to the south, the apse is oriented to the east, the façade with a gabled profile has the entrance door moved to the right and, above, two round arched windows, higher than the facade to take in more light due to the looming bank above, but with a similarity to the church of S. Maria Foris Portas (Castelseprio).
Amazing, finding it open is a wonder for the eyes.
The building was renovated in the Romanesque age, as demonstrated by the apse and the triumphal arch, narrow in its light, which in the 12th-13th century. was frescoed.
In 1607 it was restored again by the parish priest of Gornate Olona and the main room was added, frescoed on the triumphal arch; new restorations were carried out in 1607, 1732, 1921, 1978 and finally in 1990.

Inside there are pictorial works of considerable importance, there are different stratifications of frescoes in the apse and in the triumphal arch; the oldest apses date back to the Byzantine period, where Byzantine encaustic frescoes (unique in the world) represent various characters, shepherds, flocks, saints and a Christ Pantocrat, the bright colors indicate precious material and a high level of patronage.

An ocher fresco represents a two-faced Janus, an allegory of the months of the year (beginning and end); in another fresco you can see very well a crucifixion similar to the one found in the church of Santo Stefano in Bizzozzero, dating back to the 15th century; others have been lost. On the north side of the church there are no openings, there is an altar on which the Madonna enthroned is frescoed, flanked by S. Sebastiano and S. Rocco, dated 1532. On the south side there is a window and next to the old door now closed there is a fresco of San Michele from the school of Guido Reni, dated 1732.
