Archaeological investigations in these environments have produced remarkable results. Artifacts belonging to the Neanderthals and Chromagnoids have been found for a time interval ranging between 35,000 and 10,000 years ago. But none of these tens of thousands of finds has caused as much sensation as two small bone figurines, the famous Venus of Parabita. These are the ones that give the cave its name.
The Venuses depict women with pronounced shapes, with the pubis, belly, hips and breasts clearly visible.
They are extremely small, just 9 and 6.5 centimeters, both faceless but beautifully show their age, between 10,000 and 12,000 years.
In this tour most of the information regarding the famous Venus was dictated (obviously pedaling uphill 😅) by his friend Alfredo Russo, a great historical admirer as well as a tireless sportsman.
