The Route 66 Hall of Fame Museum in Pontiac was originally housed in the Dixie Truckers Home until 2004 when it was moved to a 1900's fire station building. Also included is a vehicle owned by artist and cartographer Bob Waldmire, who traveled Route 66. He was a Route 66 icon until his death in 2009. His Route 66-themed pictures, drawings, and maps are legendary. The VW bus was the basis for "Fillmore" in the animated film "Cars". Also on the street in front of the museum is his converted school bus, which he also used for his travels and as a studio.
