Carl Oswald Bulla is considered the first photo reporter. Born in the 19th century, Prussia had opened a photo studio in St. Petersburg. His son documented the Russian Revolution. The house is close to the Iide bus stop and is a museum.

The Prussian Bulla went as a young man to St. Petersburg and opened a photo-studio. He was the first photo-reporter. He photographed scenes of civic interest as well as prominent figures such as author Leo Tolstoy. Bulla taught photography to his sons, Viktor and Aleksandr, who also became photographers and documented scenes of the Revolution of 1917.

Directly near the Iide bus stop stands a silent testimony to an era in which photography took its first documentary steps: Carl Oswald Bulla's house. As a young Prussian, driven by curiosity and the urge to document, Bulla founded his own photo studio in St. Petersburg and made history as the first photo reporter. The crackling of old camera shutters, the smell of developer fluids and the intensity of the black and white images capture every visitor here. From civic scenes to an intimate portrait of the great Leo Tolstoy, Bulla captured moments that tell stories. And as if being a pioneer wasn't enough, his sons Viktor and Aleksandr also carried on this legacy and recorded the turmoil of the Russian Revolution of 1917. A museum that not only invites you to look back, but also to reflect.
