On the side of Gerecse, above Héreg, you will find the special, arched well, next to which a beautiful forest clearing invites you to picnic.
At the foot of Nagy-Gerecse there is a spring, which is also called the most beautiful spring in the mountains. Not coincidentally: the wide-water karst spring has a special vaulted reservation, the stone is red limestone. The spring and its surroundings are a popular excursion destination, as it is a short walk of 1.5 km from Héreg.
This charming meadow is also excellent for a campsite: with a rain house, benches, tables and a fireplace, it invites the traveler to rest for a longer or shorter stay. In the upper part of the clearing you will find the huge rain gate, while in the flatter part you can pitch tents or play football.
According to tradition, the name of the source refers to King Matthias, who gladly rested by this trick during his hunts in Gerecse.
