The Apostles' Church was once a Romanesque church in terms of its foundations, but it underwent some structural changes in the 17th and 18th centuries. Due to its close location to the Weser, this parish church is also known as the "Weser Church".
This church is not only open to visitors such as hikers and cyclists - Master Adebar and his family also move into the stork's nest placed on the roof every year. Every year, stork offspring are eagerly awaited.

The church was built between 1000 and 1200, enlarged in 1772 and renovated in 1987. The first documented mention dates back to 1204. It is a three-bay hall church with a west tower. The sacristy, built later, borders on the south side of the central and eastern bay. Because of its location a few hundred meters from the banks of the Weser, the Ovenstadt Church is also known as the "Weser Church".
