The Mound of Glory was erected in the places of fierce fighting during Operation Bagration in July 1944, known as the Minsk Cauldron. The nationwide construction began in 1967.
It is a beautiful well-groomed place: there are benches for rest, a toilet, a Belkopsoyuz store, where you can have a snack and drink coffee. The only difficulty is cycling both from Minsk and from the highway from Raubich. Every time I have difficulties visiting this place on bike tours.

The decision to erect the memorial "Mound of Glory" was made in 1966.

As part of the resolution of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus on August 18, 1966, it was decided to approve the proposal of the Minsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus on the construction of a monumental sculptural composition in the Minsk region. According to the idea, it was supposed to mark the victorious end of the Belarusian offensive operation "Bagration" in 1944, which led to the destruction of the Nazi army of the "Center" group. This document was signed by the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, Peter Masherov. And already in September 1966, a memorial plaque was laid on the site of the future Mound of Glory and a rally was held. It was attended not only by Minskers, but also by representatives of the hero cities. The rally participants adopted a mandate for future generations to honor the memory of the past war and be patriots of their fatherland. The text of the order was walled up in a special capsule at the base of the mound.

The construction of the Mound of Glory began in November 1964.
