    Taplejung municipality and district in the Mechi Zone of northeastern Nepal is the last town on the trek to Kangchenjunga (8586m) the third highest mountain in the world, and to the famous Pathibhara Devi pilgrimage temple ( komoot.de/highlight/141422 ). It's one of the most beautiful areas in Nepal, with a spectacular landscape, 13 of the highest Himalayan peaks of heights above 7000 meters, and a wide range of flora and fauna. Taplejung ('Fort of King Taple'), is at 1441 meters (4730 feet), with a population of 19,085 people in 2011.
    Taplejung has an airstrip with commercial flights to Biratnagar and Kathmandu. A road connects the district headquarters with the Tarai plains. Most of the population are involved in agriculture, and the vegetation zones range from sub-tropical to temperate forests, alpine meadows, snow, and ice. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taplejung
