According to legend, the construction of the New Mill lock was the result of princely disorientation: Elector Frederick III, later King Frederick I, got lost on a hunting trip and came to the water mill.
While eating and drinking, the miller complained about the irregular water level. Frederick reacted promptly - and in 1695 the weir and lock were built. In 1868, the new lock chamber was built next to the old one.

In the summer months there is a lot of traffic. Every day, hundreds of yachts, paddle boats and rowboats pass through here.
On Tuesdays you can watch the stars and cruise ships, as they are passed from the Zeuthener Lake on the Krüpelsee. Unfortunately, bicycles are not taken. The tour begins in the Treptow harbor at 10.30 clock, leads over the old town Köpenick to Krüpelsee and back.

Right next to the New Mill lock is a weir with a boat ladder. Neue Mühle is a residential area in Königs Wusterhausen. The former Gutsbezirk was incorporated in 1898 into the former rural community KWH. In Neue Mühle is the nature reserve TIERGARTEN, a former royal hunting ground. The lock Neue Mühle, dating back to 1696. In 1812, the old wooden bridge was replaced by a massive construction, in 1868 a drawbridge was built over the lower lock gate. The lock is the oldest bridge on the Dahme waterway in Brandenburg.
