    Covering an area of 972 hectares (2,410 acres), Delamere Forest is Cheshire's largest area of woodland. The peaceful forest has many trails that showcase the wonderful nature and diverse wildlife. Delamere means 'forest of the lakes' – there are lots of small lakes dotted amongst the trees. The forest was established in the 11th century as a hunting forest. In 1924, it was given to the Forestry Commission.

    You can enjoy the park from 9am - 7pm daily. More information can be found here: forestryengland.uk/delamere-forest

    It does get busy around the visitors' centre and the Gruffalo trail. However, if you ride up Pale Hill and follow the perimeter of the forest, there are plenty of quiet trails to explore. Keep your eyes peeled for single tracks going through the forest, there lots of off-the-beaten-path routes to follow if you look for them.
