I arranged to meet here with the bike-free part of the family as part of my test ride. This also includes 2 dogs. They were very happy about the huge run on the Elbe beach. Of course they tried to reach New Zealand by digging in the sand.

EAT DRINK.

There are some great treats at Strandfleh. The fish sandwiches are always fresh, almost straight from the water. They are particularly proud of their Belgian fries - definitely try them! Maybe with a good currywurst with homemade sauce? And a freshly tapped beer? Mmmhh….

Kollmar is located between Glückstadt and Elmshorn on the Elbe in the Kollmarer Marsch conservation area. It is assumed that settlement in the municipal area took place around 100 to 200 AD. In 1716 the Groß and Klein Kollmar estates were established. In 1862, after changeful ownership by the nobility, they passed into local farming families. In 1974, the current municipality of Kollmar was formed through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Klein- and Groß Kollmar.

The landscape and the location on the Elbe make Kollmar a popular destination. Whether in bright sunshine or stormy weather, a hike on the Elbe dyke is always a special experience. On the one hand there is the wide marsh landscape with the steeple of the village church as the highest point, on the other hand the Elbe offers an interesting view of the lively shipping traffic between Hamburg and the North Sea.

The roads and paths in the village and in the surrounding area are suitable for cycling tours. The Elbe beach invites you to swim and sunbathe, the little ones can have fun on the adjacent playground. The campsite at the foot of the dyke is popular with cyclists and holidaymakers. Horse lovers will get their money's worth in several riding stables in Kollmar. A special highlight is the rose garden on the Elbe, which houses more than 550 varieties of roses.
