This replica of Lascaux is really very well made. The Lascaux cave was discovered in 1945 and was described as "the Sistine Chapel of prehistory", so fascinated it. The paintings relate to two distinct periods of occupation. They have been dated to -18000 years old.

Lascaux IV is the true-to-scale replica of the Lascaux Cave, which was demolished in 1963. harmful exposure to light, warm air, etc. was closed.
Preorder is essential. Cost 2019 for adults 20 €. German tour only in July and August, otherwise only in French. Subsequent exhibition and films with German translation.
Highly recommended.

This excursion takes visitors far back into prehistoric times. And the place - like the Vézère valley in the French Périgord - is not only marked as one (of many) highlights in the komoot system: UNESCO has also recognized the surprisingly well-preserved, ancient rock paintings and - quite rightly - awarded them the coveted title of World Heritage Site. The German-language television series "Treasures of the World - Heritage of Humanity" documents these special places from all eras and continents in quarter-hour contributions.
