It is a bridge of Roman origin, remodeled in later periods, and although it no longer spans the Jarama River, it bears witness to the river's former passage through the area. Today, it forms part of the recreational area of the same name, Puente Romano (Roman Bridge). It is located on the "Jarama Route," along the old road to France.

"In the 2nd century AD, a secondary route was built from Plasencia, which ran through the south of the Central System to Talamanca and Cesada, the latter already located on the main road between Emerita Augusta and Caesar Augusta. The Talamanca bridge was built to cross the waters of the Jarama River on this secondary route. Talamanca thus became a crossroads and acquired a certain importance in the economic development of the area."
