There used to be a high base for the Austrian army at this point. A few years ago this was removed and a new, modern viewing platform was built. Until 1989, the "Iron Curtain" represented an insurmountable border - the lookout tower is considered the cornerstone of this border.
At the lookout tower: Comfortable seating area with a quiet atmosphere. In my opinion, but unfortunately not high enough to see the lake.

You can expect: a comfortable seat, unlimited views over Lake Neusiedl, the reed belt, the nearby Hungarian village of Fertörákos, the lake foreland, vineyards and the municipality of Mörbisch. The quickest way to reach the viewing platform is from the parking lot at the Mörbisch/Fertörákos border crossing; From there you go straight ahead in the direction of Lake Neusiedl.[moerbisch.com]
