The Martinstor (Martin's Gate) is one of the original gates of Oberelchingen Monastery. The imposing structure towers above the road, which climbs the mountain at a 16% gradient. Today it houses the municipal administration. For those who can't make it all the way to the monastery, there are benches just to the left of the gate.

Here at the Martinstor there is a plaque commemorating the Battle of Elchingen. The two bells in the tower are originals from the 17th century. They had called the monks to prayer and still ring every quarter of an hour.
